The sacrifice was worth it as he was ready for when Hrub made to throw. Once more, he arced a flask out into the woods, and once more a keen shot from the orc blew it open and sent a fresh wave of fire and pain down on the gnolls. That fed the flames enough that the light in the woods didn’t die away, giving him a clear sight of the gnoll pack and the waves of status tags rolling off their heads.

That fire gave Hrub all the fuel he needed. He cast two more flasks out in rapid succession, aiming for rocks to make sure they burst apart and scattered even more of the explosive oil over the scene. The terrible liquid was meant to keep burning even if it was smothered. Water would only spread it. Beating at it would only fan it hotter. He gave a vicious smirk as he saw two of the gnolls thrashing between two trees with their whole upper torsos ablaze. Take dat, you fookin’ raiders.

A howl came from the opposite direction. Two gnolls which must have been creeping around to flank them rushed out of the forest with their blades leading. Pyunn jumped into their path. He blocked one sword with his mace, but looked like he was about to get chopped apart from the other enemy. The second gnoll swept his ugly broadsword high and took aim at the slaver’s neck.
